Arne Hovmand-Olsen A lifelong passion for furniture design. Arne Hovmand Olsen is a famous Danish furniture designer from the mid 20th century. He was born into an agricultural family in Kirkeby Sogn, Denmark. Due to his interest in drawing from an early age, his family set him up as an apprentice to furniture maker P. Olsen Sibast in 1938.

Designed by Arne Hovmand Olsen for the Mogens Kold factory in Denmark c.1960s, these mid-century dining chairs have a comfortable seating position. The wood is then polished and treated with a mix of waxes, polishes and secret sauce to give these chairs a long lasting and durable finish while keeping their mid-century Scandinavian modern looks intact.

Arne Hovmand-Olsen had the world in mind, both before and after the 1950s, when he became one of Denmark’s renowned furniture desigers. The son of a farmer and an aesthete by nature, he started as an apprentice cabinetmaker, before studying furniture design and pursuing his passion for visual composition and furniture design.
